Welcome to the playground

Hello authors and readers I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I’m Ambrose. Amateur / Indie author specializing in spicy tales of Macabre and Cyberpunk. Self Proclaimed: Dream hacker of the macabre. Its nice to meet you! Yes you. The person reading this. I have a few awesome updates to share here. Lets crack on shall we?

Whats with the self title: 

This actually hearkens to my non-author works. I have a foundation in cyber security and software development. I wear the title hacker with pride because if you didn’t know. The modern term ‘hacker’ got its roots within the MIT model railroad club. Counter to the popular opinion of some cellar dweller hacking banks and social security.

So the Dream hacker bit is not meant to be “Oh he is soooo dreamy” (I cringed too. Don’t worry I give you permission.) as much as it’s a reflection of who I am behind the pseudonym. It also plays into my fascination with cyberpunk. Of which, I am certain we are hurtling toward. Give me that ramen Stand with Blade Runner Blues playing in the background please! Macabre is of course a reference to my love of darker tales.

So its a one line point of reference to who I am. Loosely means something to the tune of: 

“Let me hack your dreams with my dark tales. Let me haunt you…”

Novlr, The absolute best writing platform: 

I have been involved with novlr for about a year now in total. Had an account since mid 2025. I am extremely happy to announce that I decided to become a platform co-owner earlier this year. As a result I have had the honor of being heavily involved in the bug finding and feature suggestion of the new version. 

I absolutely LOVE this platform to no end and I am more than proud of the work being done on it. I appreciate that the developers and community managers will actually pay attention to not just the co-owners but the community at large. That is rare in the software field where the main attitude seems to be “You are getting this if you like it or not.” That is not the case here. I feel my opinions and suggestions carry weight and I feel included in the process. 

Why I love Novlr so much: 

The platform is built for Zen. As a neuro-sparkly person this carries its own level of weight. The platform is loaded with features that are conducive to the work. From world building tools, author pages and the ability to share your work directly.

All of those tools are built to be simple. Rooted in the world’s oldest and best video processor. Your brain and the text you bleed fourth.  

There is No AI to be found here. Which leads me to…

The main draw being that blank page crooking its finger at you like the steamy seductress it is.

Someone give me some zen!

Above all the system knows how to get out of your way in favor of it being just you and the text. So you can go from having the world at your fingertips to hyper focus zoned in with the amount of effort it takes to spread butter at the perfect temperature. The counter to this is you have the option to manually set your interface to be JUST right for you.  

The share system

Is fantastic and has lead me to use Novlr exclusively as my own “Studio Proof” system. This realistically is just me coming up with creative terms for ARC / Beta reading. One link. Whole manuscript and if you desire, Lore notes. With the upcoming collaboration features this will be even more expanded and beneficial.

Cross-Platform: Chefs kiss

Another major draw is that I started writing this post on my laptop. Just a quick proof of concept thing. But I am now editing it on. my. phone. I actually started editing when I was out and about earlier. Now here I sit. Comfortable, with all of Novlr’s power resting in my palm. Not just the bits that “Make sense for mobile”. Give. Me. All. Of. That!
