Prepping for NaNo2.0
6 July 2026
92,000 Words... I wrote... 92,000 words
Last year was a year of progress and evolution both for myself and my writing. That is largely in part due to NaNoWriMo or in this case NaNo2.0. Since the original org fell through. It was through the NaNo2 site. That I had discovered Novlr. And lead me on the most interesting journey into a talent that I had not taken a serious stock in since high school.
Proving I could
Last year proved that I could do it. 50,000 words in thirty days. I decided two days before it kicked off that I would take on the challenge. Though for me I was following Novlr's November Word Count Challenge. I exceeded that number.
I'm what one could call a rebel plantser in terms of the NaNo ecosystem. (I know, plantser is a term outside of NaNo) So, I took the traditional NaNo rules and bent them. Instead of starting from scratch. I was already 30,000 words into Forever in His Veins and I wanted to use the event to wrap it up. On top of this, being a plantser means I make up a loose plan and lore and write based on that. No heavy lore. Just "I like vampires. I had this idea back in highschool." And off to the races. Then when something comes up that needs more explanation. I make it up on the spot or spend a little time thinking about it.
This year, I am going into it with a plan.
So, about that plan...
This year I actually have a team behind me. Thats right kids. We are moving from plantser to planner territory!
This year myself and the group I affectionately refer to as the #NeonDreamTeam will be spending the time between the launch of Forever in His Veins and November first hammering out the lore for the first novel in the EdenWire titled Neon Dreams.
EdenWire is a Spicy cyberpunk, techniore set 450 years from now in a reimagined Manhattan (Rockport) Which focuses on the Adventures and Misadventures of Ciel, her girfriend Didi and Ciel's AI partner Navi.
It covers topics like:
-----
|- What happens when AI gets too much control.
|-- Will it exterminate or will it subjugate?
|- What happens when AI is a better human than humans?
-----
We have 450 years of lore to flesh out and what feels like never enough time to do it. But come August 1st. Its full steam ahead.
Get in losers, we're going to Rockport! - Moo
A collaborative universe
I have always been in the roleplay ecosystem ever since I made my first MMORPG character back in middle school. There is no shock in me saying that I wanted EdenWire to be for all intents and reasons "Open Source" as we build up the lore for the novels. I will be building a codex of sorts that I will be issuing to the #NeonDreamTeam in the hopes they take on the NaNo challenge as well. Using the lore of the world to build their own novels. Once the codex is to a point, I think people will understand it and be able to use it. I will release it free of charge to anyone interested in writing or creating for this universe.
The lore, world and timeline will always be free for people to use and see.
The novel's I specifically write will be something paid for.
Anyone writing for the universe will be more than welcome to set a price for their own works. I won't ask for a dime but counter to that. I will encourage authors to promote the universe as well as write some stories that are free to read. Afterall the more people who see the freebies. The more people will be interested in the mainline novels and support the authors involved.
Least that is my train of thought.
There we have it.
