Me running a workshop... What could possibly go wrong?
1 October 2026
I want to thank the absolute legends at Just One More Page bookstore.
Monday I casually floated the idea to the owner's husband, "hey, what if I taught a writing workshop?" By Wednesday I had a date on the calendar. That's how fast enablers work.
You know I love this Atwood quote:
You become a writer by writing. There is no other way. So do it. Do it more. Do it again. Do it better. Fail. Fail better.
So that's the theme. Failing and failing better.
My entire author platform so far has been one long, evidence-backed campaign to prove to new and would-be writers that it's okay to suck. I have anthologies of live written works, and to my shock, no medical bills for my editor's blood pressure issues and or therapy sessions to support this claim.
You have given me a terrible power.
One I intend to use for good. On TikTok I write live, unedited, raw words hitting the screen in real time so you can watch the train wreck happen. This is that, but in a room. With advice. Possibly homework. Probably jokes.
Don't worry, I'm not pivoting to "boring professor" mode. I'm bringing the feral antics with me. People remember funny. People also remember mild chaos. I can do both.
Long story short
If I can get one person to pick up a pen, a keyboard, a cracked phone screen, whatever, and put words on a page, I win.
After all.
Very few people write a novel. Even fewer write the novel they actually wanted to write.
Let's fix that part.
So if you happen to be in the area.
Class starts around 6:00pm October 21st at Just One More Page Bookstore. Keep an eye on the events page as well as the stores FB for more information! Hopefully see you there!
